Host: Japan Society of Material Cycles and Waste Management
Researchers from Japan, Phillippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia formed a group to investigate the situation of waste management in their capital cities. We would like to describe the various forms of recycling we have encountered in this exploratory research. Many different types of recycling existed, such as those by dumpsite scavengers, junk shops, waste banks, and charity based organisations. These schemes refect the effective incentives corresponding to the local socio-economic conditions.
