Abstract

In this study, because the thickness of 0.5 m of BMS layer is a standard in Japan, the authors constructed six large models of BMS barrier system in the field which had a thickness of 0.5m, a width of 1.5m and a length of 3.2m. Then they conducted tests on local deformation to observe behavior of the BMS barrier system. From this study, We estimated, the allowable shear stress of the thickness of 0.5m of BMS layer is 30 kN/m2, allowable bending stress is 200 kN/m2, and allowable deflection rate is 0.4%.
