Abstract

Aiming to promote the recycling of food waste and create environmentally friendly energy, J Bio Food Recycle Corporation was established jointly by the JFE Engineering Corporation Group, which has a track record of constructing biogas power plants and technology waste treatment, and East Japan Railway Company Group, which works on the reuse of food waste.

The factory was completed in July 2018, and we obtained industrial waste and municipal waste disposal business licenses from Yokohama City, respectively, and received food waste and started operations. In this report, I report the operation results of this facility and future issues. Since the start of operation, we have accepted various food wastes as industrial wastes and municipal wastes. In March 2020, it received food waste of 56t/day, equivalent to 70% of the design capacity, and maintained stable operation of methane fermentation. In cooperation with group companies, we contribute to SDGs initiatives through activities that consider the global environment, such as creating a mechanism for returning electricity to discharge enterprises, using electric vehicles to transport food waste, and providing recycling reports.
