Abstract

Reducing CO2 emissions is getting a more important issue for waste treatment facilities to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Kawasaki is currently developing Kawasaki CO2 Capture, KCC, a CO2 capture technology using solid sorbent for post-combustion exhaust gas. KCC can be operated using low-temperature waste heat of about 60 degrees Celsius, which allows to recover CO2 more efficiently than conventional CO2 capture method. This technology has been developed for coal-fired power plants, and is planned to be applied to waste treatment plants. In this presentation, we introduce technical features of KCC and the status of the pilot-scale CO2 capture demonstration for commercialization.
