Influence of Boss on Burst of High Speed Rotor

In this paper, the experiments and considerations on the bursting of a rotor having a boss in its center part are described. According to the experiments, there are two modes in the bursting of the rotor ; one is the burst at the diametral section, the other is that at the section around a boss and they depend on the size of a boss. We discussed the effect of a boss on the burst of a rotor and presented the burst conditions of the rotor in each mode. These conditions agreed well with the experiments not only in the bursting speed but also in the mode of burst.
