A Study on a Vortex Blower 1st Report, Effect of the Shape of Impeller and Modification of the Inlet of Blower

The influence of the roundness in the corner of the root of vanes is investigated showing that it has a significant effect on the delivery head. Flow visualization is also made along the vane surface and it is found that the flow pattern along vanes changes largely with the flow rate if this roundness does not exist, while it slightly changes if the roundness exists. Modification of the inlet of the blower with a splitter or a modified casing is also effective to improve the blower characteristics.
