Concerning the scoring resistance of the gear drive, the effects of the load intensity fluctuation on the anti-seizure capacity of a gear base oil were examined by two-cylinder tests at a high specific sliding considering the interference among projections. The frequency of interference among projections increases with an increases in specific sliding. Though the frequency in the heavy load intensity sector is higher than hat in light one. The effects of the load intensity difference on the frequency in a higher specific sliding range are smaller than those in a lower one. The seizure tends to take place in the heavy load intensity sector where the frequency of interference among projections and the bulk temperature are high. The load intensity fluctuation does not affect the anti-seizure capacity of the gear base oil. This is because there is affect the anti-seizure capacity of the gear base oil. This is because there is little difference between the lubrication states in both load intensity sectors.
