Abstract
This paper is devoted to investigating dynamical analysis of Space Solar Power Station (SSPS) system proposed by the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS) recently. This system consists of large thin, flexible rectangle plates connected to a bus system through four tethers, and its attitude is stabilized by the gravity-gradient torque with employment of the tether technology. Structure flexibility, gravity forces and gravity gradient torques are taken into consideration in this study to obtain an effective control scheme for the system. Finite Element Method (FEM) and Substructure Synthesis Method are employed to analyze the vibrational motion of the system. Results of numerical analyses show that tether bends and extends to balance the influence of the gravity gradient torques, and the waves of the tether interact that of plates.
