Abstract
The design concept of Integrated Primary and Secondary Impact Model (IPSIM) is presented, which takes the integration of the primary and secondary impacts into account, through which the safety of occupant can be analyzed at the same time of studying the crashworthiness of automobile. The IPSIM can be used to design the passive safety of automobile during the concept phase, and analyze the dynamic response of vehicle-to-barrier full frontal impact. Then, two kinds of IPSIM, based on Lumped Parameters Model (LPM) and Multibody System (MBS), are taken as examples to illustrate its application in the development of a commercial vehicle respectively. It is proved that the ISPIM proposed in this paper is effective by comparing the results of numerical analysis with that of test.
