Abstract
Glass fiber reinforced plastics have been widely used as electric insulators in the form of hollow tube. GFRP is the material of the combination of light weight and high strength. The matrix resin is polymer, they may absorb moisture and break the insulation of inner elecric devices. In order to evaluate the amount of moisture permeation into the inner part, Finite element program was developed. Steady and transient moisture permeation up to 30 years were calculated. The result shows that total amount of moisture permeation can be reduced by aging composite insulators at moderate temperature.
