Abstract
This paper deals with stress concentration problems of a hollow circular thick walled elastic cylinder with an annular groove of semicircular form under external pressure. It is assumed that the groove is on the inner surface. A problem of circular cylinder with an annular groove at the outer surface under internal pressure was considered in a previous paper. A method of solution is presented for the problem by applying Green's functions for axisymmetric body force problems of a thick elastic plate. Stress concentrations at the groove are investigated by numerical calculations.
