There have been many studies on the multi-scale stress analysis for various advanced materials such as fiber or particulate reinforced composite materials, functionally gradient materials and porous materials considering the microscopic heterogeneity. Because the finite element modeling of the microstructure is a very cumbersome task, the image-based modeling is useful especially in the three-dimensional analysis. Not only the meshing but also the evaluation of the calculated three-dimensional stress distribution at the microscale is not easy for the real, random and complex microstructure architecture. Hence, this paper focuses on the microscopic stress evaluation both qualitatively and quantitatively for porous ceramics. As the computational method, both the homogenization method and the mesh superposition method are adopted.
