Plastic injection molding (PIM) is one of the most widely used manufacturing processes for producing plastic parts. Warpage is a serious defect in PIM, especially for the thin shell plastic products. It is an important issue in the PIM to predict the warpage and optimize process parameters. In this study, the Sequential Approximate Optimization (SAO) with radial basis function (RBF) network is employed for the warpage optimization of thin shell plate. This optimization method is applied to some objective functions. The maximum displacement, the mean displacement, and the standard deviation of displacement are taken as the objective functions. The results show the effectiveness of each objective function. And the most effective objective function is determined for minimizing the warpage.
