In this paper, the relationship between the reaction force and sealing performance of O-ring was investigated by mechanical test. An instrument to evaluate the sealing performance was developed to perform the mechanical test. The instrument was used under the conditions that gave any loads to the rubber O-ring. In addition, a nonlinear viscoelastic model which takes into account the temperature dependence was developed. By using this model, the relationship between the reaction force and compression set was investigated.
