Assessment of cyclic plasticity models

― On ad hoc Chaboche model ー

Abstract

The mechanical features of the Chaboche model (Chaboche et al., 1979; Chaboche, 1989, 2008) are analyzed definitely. Then, it will be revealed that the Chaboche model is not a physical model but merely ad hoc primitive model to be the polynomial approximation of test data including a lot of material constants without clear physical meaning and thus possesses a lot of physical and mathematical defects. All these defects are solved out in the subloading-overstress model.
