Abstract

Fatigue fracture of metallic materials is the main cause of mechanical failure, and the dislocation sub-structure formed under cyclic deformation plays an important role in determining the shape change of the material surface and the conditions for crack initiation during the fatigue crack initiation process. In this study, we performed a restart analysis based on the FTMP field theory to elucidate the detailed information of the dislocation sub-structure in FCC metals by performing an analysis that inherits the plastic distortion distribution of the characteristic dislocation sub-structure that appears inside the material under cyclic loading. In this study, the results of tensile and compressive loading in the [123] direction were used as the original model, and restart analyses were performed in several different directions under the same conditions. As a result, it was found that a composite, PSB-like microstructure is formed in the FCC metal by a small ladder-like structure, which is responsible for deformation of the entire microstructure.
