In this study, elastic-plastic FEM using a cohesive zone model (CZM) with trapezoidal traction-separation law is applied to the ductile crack propagation problem of three different sizes of low-alloy steel C(T) specimens. The cohesive energy is determined by the experimental J-R curve, and the cohesive strength is obtained by conventional elastic-plastic FE analysis on the notched specimen. The crack extension is assessed using damage variables of interface elements, and J-R curve is evaluated by performing several stationary crack analyses based on the relationship between crack extension and displacement obtained from the crack propagation analysis result.
