Abstract
In this paper, we propose a control method for changing the nonlinear characteristics of a parametrically excited beam by linear feedback based on the bifurcation control. The control is achieved by using a piezoelectric actuator. Appropriate linear feedback gain can change the nonlinear characteristics so that the jumping phenomena in the sweep of the excitation amplitude are avoided. It is experimentally confirmed that discontinuous bifurcation is transformed into continuous one, and the jumping phenomena can be reduced for the sweep of the excitation amplitude.
