Abstract

The chattering behavior of endmill was measured by laser Doppler vibrometer from the feed and radial directions in milling of hardened steel. As a result, it could be confirmed that there are two kinds of chatter vibrations depending on cutting speed. We proposed the chattering model that could be accounted with the dependence of cutting force on cutting speed and the coupled action in feed and radial directions.
