Abstract
This study presents the stability analysis of a disk brake which consists of a disk and a pad supported by a plate spring (pad-caliper).The disk has flexibility of translational motion and the pad-caliper has flexibility of translational motion and rotational motion. At first we analyzed the disk-pad-caliper system as a pin-disk model, which touched at a point on frictional contact surface. Secondly we built a distributed spring model based on analysis results of the pin-disk model. We considered the spring was nonlinear in case pressing load was large. It could take into consideration restoring force on frictional contact surface occurred by elastic deformation which depended on load.
