Abstract
This paper presents characteristics of morphological change in organisms and their applications to artificial deployable membrane structures. We observe deployment procedures of some membrane structures in organisms including deployment of flowers, eclosions of insects, and flaps of bats' wings. As well as flaps of bats' wings, we also observe furling behaviors. It is important to furl up membrane structures for future space structures. Because it is said to that membrane structures are suitable for next large space structures like solar power satellites, space antennas, solar sails, and so on.
