Abstract
Many types of machinery used in power plants are fixed by anchor bolts. When these machines experience big earthquakes, the bolt joints deform in the plastic region, loosening them, resulting in a non-linear behavior. We studied the modeling method to analyze the seismic response of machines in considering anchor bolt yield. We performed a tensile test and an elemental test to determine the load-deflection properties and the failure point for the bolt joints. We then applied the obtained properties to an analytical model, and analyzed the seismic response of machines fixed by anchor bolts. We report elemental-test and study results obtained by evaluating the seismic response of machines fixed by anchor bolts to improve yielde.
