Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to propose a new technique in order to approximately estimate the stochastic response of nonlinear hysteretic structure with active control by sliding mode control (SMC) theory subjected to Gaussian white noise as earthquake. One-degree-of-freedom hysteretic system is adopted as an analytical model, also active mass damper (AMD) is considered as vibration control method. Concerning the statistical values of structural response obtained by the proposed technique, the Monte Carlo simulation is also performed. Comparison of both results shows good agreement and indicates that the proposed analytical method is valid.
