Abstract
It was found that vibration amplitude at any position of a structure with vibration absorbers can be calculated analytically by using the specification of absorbers and mobility of the structure evaluated by experiments or numerical calculation. The calculation of the sound power generated from a simply supported beam with the absorber leads to the following results. 1) The absorber set at exciting point has a highest ability of the sound reduction. 2) A bending rigidity plays an important role in the sound reduction when the position of the absorber is different from the exciting point.
