Abstract
The rubbing vibration is caused by contact between a rotating part and non-rotating part in a rotating machine. In this paper, characteristics of rubbing vibration phenomena are numerically discussed. Rubbing vibration is one of the non-linear vibration. Investigation ofthe characteristics of the rubbing vibration contributes diagnosis of the vibration and identification of the location. In the numerical simulation, two rubbing locations , that is, near the bearing and middle of the shaft, ate selected. And, at two locations, vertical and horizontal direction are selected. Shaft vibration is calculated in the horizontal and vertical directions near the bearings. The simulation results are as follows. (1) The critical speeds in the rubbing direction become larger. Especially, the tendency is large when the rubbing location is near the middle of the shaft. (2) The peak frequency of 0.5th vibration component appears at about twice the 1st critical speed .
