Abstract
The chattering behavior of end-mill shank was measured by two laser Doppler vibrometer from the feed and radial directions at the same time when end-milling of the hardened steel. As a result, it could be confirmed that there are two kinds of chatter vibrations that vibrating modes and frequency different depending on cutting speed. We proposed the chattering model that could be accounted with the dependence of cutting force on cutting speed and the coupled action in feed and radial directions.
