Abstract
The time reversal processing for the measured sensor signal can be applied to detect not only thestructural damage but also the impact loading of the host structure. In this study, a model based impactdetection method for the structural health monitoring is proposed. The impact identification capability of thenumerical time reversal processing is demonstrated by using a rectangular aluminum plate with nine surfacebonded piezoceramic sensors. The illustrative numerical simulation results indicate that the proposed methodcan be successfully identifying both exact impact point and time.
