Abstract
This paper describes the multi-objective optimal design of frame structures using genetic algorithm and generalized transfer stiffness coefficient method(GTSCM). The GTSCM has been developed as a method of vibration analysis with high performance and easiness of application. The topology optimization procedure for minimizing total mass and maximizing first natural frequency is developed based on the ground structure approach. The computational amount for calculating the objective functions can be minimized by utilizing the GTSCM. Optimal design example is provided to confirm the effectiveness of the present method.
