Abstract
There is a neocortex in human brains which may give us important functions. In this study, we suggested a neural network which had the structural characteristics of the neocortex and might have the functional characteristics of it. The present neural network had hierarchical network system consisting of many auto-associative neural networks. The performance of this network was compared with that of the conventional auto-associative neural network for pattern recognition of alphabets. As a result, some performance of the suggested one was higher than the conventional.
