Abstract
The magnetic damper in our study bases on Lorentz force. In other words, if there is a static nonuniform magnetic field, the component of which is perpendicular to the direction of the movement of a conductor sheet, eddy currents flowing in the conductor sheet produce the magnetic force of drag. In this report, the magnetic damper, which is composed of the circular magnet and the circular-cylinder conductor, has been modeled and tested. In the equation of the modeling, we use the magnetic flux densities in the axial and radial direction. As the result, the analytical results agree well with the experimental results.
