Abstract
This paper describes the results of the new isolation system using vertically utilized coiled springs suitable for light-weight-houses. The experimental tests of using a 0.20 scale model of an isolated house and theoretical analysis were performed to investigate the isolation performance. The results showed that the restoring forces characteristics of the vertically utilized coiled springs was to be linear, the isolation system could not only reduce the response acceleration of the scale model itself but also the response acceleration with respect to the fixtures and fittings which has a wide band frequency. Consequently, The isolation system was considered to have desirable the isolation performance suitable for light-weight-houses.
