Abstract
This paper discusses a control strategy for a mini helicopter having four rotors in planar motion. Based on the backstepping method employing the sliding mode theories together, a robust velocity-servo system is designed. Numerical simulation illustrates that a discontinuous moment input is very effective to eliminate the coupling between the rolling moment and the lateral acceleration of the helicopter.
