Abstract
In many electric equipments or engines, noise is often generated within the cabinet and propagates through the orifice and radiated to outer space. In order to reduce noise, absorbing meteraial can be set in the cabinet. As absorbing materials are in general expensive and requiring much space compared to metal or plastic materials, efficient setting is desired. The finite difference method in time domain (FDTD) can he applied to predict sound field in the cabinet. As configurations of equipments can be well represeted by non-uniform grid, the compact finite difference on that grid was applied.
