Abstract
By processing triangle or square pyramid shaped indents on a flat sheet following regular plane tiling patterns, panels with periodical indents are manufactured. By setting a panel piece (as top panel) on reversed one (as bottom one), and gluing them at the apexes of pyramids to nodal points of the tiling patterns of bottom panel, highly rigid core panels are newly developed. By analyzing mechanical property of these core panels with experiments and numerical simulations, it is clarified that surface patterns affect panel rigidity, and they are able to compete with honeycomb at the point of specific rigidity
