Abstract
This paper deals with a countermeasure against pattern formation phenomena of roll covering-rubber. The pattern formation phenomena sometimes occur in paper making machines, winder systems of elastic yarn and thin sheet winders. In these systems, The pattern formation phenomena are mainly caused by the viscoelastic characteristics of the roll covering rubber, the elastic yarn and the thin sheet. These pattern formation phenomena lead to a fatal damage on products. The authors conducted experiment to clarify the suppressive effect of the damping, the variation of rotating speed and the dynamic absorber on the pattern formation. The authors also theoretically confirmed the countermeasures. The results of the experiments qualitatively coincide with those of the numerical analysis.
