Abstract

This study shows the hysteresis properties of a cantilever beam under the influence of magnets. In a previous report, one of the authors studied mechanism of vibration control by the pulsating force. This control method needs two or more stable solutions because the essence of this method is the jump phenomenon from large amplitude wave to small one. This report examines the behavior of the beam under the influence of electro and neodymium magnets in order to search the hysteresis conditions. The results of the experiments show that the control method can reduce amplitude of the cantilever beam when neodymium magnets stick to the beam.
