Abstract
In recent years, many researches on semi-active suspension systems have been done to improve comfortableness and handling stability. In the previous research of our group, a control method of a semi-active suspenision system with actuator dynamics was proposed. But the system requires the states of the body and the damper, and the states should be measured. This paper proposes the method of designing an adaptive Variable Structure System (VSS) observer which can suppress the effect of disturbances for a semi-active suspension system with actuator dynamics. The performance of the estimation is confirmed to be very accurate by simulations and experiments.
