Abstract
When the system is subjected to excess vibrational load, the response is beyond yield point. In this case, restoring force has hysteresis loop characteristic. It is well known that the response is reduced due to absorbed energy by hysteresis loop characteristic caused by plastic deformation. However, strength of the system degrades owing to accumulated energy. In this paper, relation between accumulated energy by hysteresis loop characteristic and reduction of the maximum response is examined. The system is modeled as a single-degree-of-freedom system and subjected to filtered white noise. Assessing method for relation between degradation of the system and the maximum response is shown.
