Abstract

For the compressor of the air conditioner, vibration occurs during operation, which generates radiation noise and may give damage to its refrigerant pipes. Therefore, to reduce the vibration of the compressor is strongly demanded. From this viewpoint, it is important to find out the force generated in the compressor since the estimated force can be used for the numerical simulations to predict the noise and vibration. Furthermore, it is impossible to directly measure the force inside the compressor due to the space limitation. Thus, the force is identified by solving the inverse problem in this paper. The inverse matrix method is adopted for the input force identification. The force is obtained by applying the inverse of accelerance (acceleration/force) matrix to the response acceleration vector. It can be assumed that the compressor structure is regarded as rigid body within the certain range of frequency (relatively low frequencies). In this paper, the proposed method is applied to the compressor at operation in order to confirm the validity of the method. In the experiment, a set of the frequency response functions are measured by the impact testing and the applied force by the hammer is identified by the proposed approach for the verification. It was found that the applied force is correctly identified by the method.
