The controllability of parallel magnetic suspension system with series-connected coils is investigated analytically. A parallel magnetic suspension system has multiple floators and electromagnets driven by a single amplifier. Parallel systems are classified into four types based on the output of the power amplifier and the connection of the coils. Among them, two types with series-connected coils are treated in this report where the multiplicity is considered to be an arbitrary counting number n. The conditions are clarified in which current-controlled and voltage-controlled systems are controllable. The most critical condition is that each subsystem consisting of an electromagnet and the corresponding floator has different dynamic characteristics from the other subsystems.
