Abstract

Recently, 3D printing technology is improving. Then, utilizing a complicated structure created using a 3D printer, study on materials reduction, high rigidity and cooling has been done. Such a structure is called Lattice. On the other hand, from the viewpoint of comfort and quietness, vibration damping function is required in automotive industry. In this study, utilizing a complicated structure created using a 3D printer, study the damping performance of the structure by experiment and simulation. First, creating program with MATLAB for vibration experiment simulation based on theoretical equation and study of damping considering friction. Next, creating test piece of Lattice structure for vibration damping by friction with 3D printer. Finally, study of loss factor by dynamic viscoelasticity measurement and compare it with the simulation result. It is proved that created program is able to study the tendency of damping due to friction in the calculation program based on the theoretical equation. The trend is that friction affects response frequency. Damping magnitude change by change of frequency of exciting force. The optimal friction value of damping performance exists. Also, it was found that the created structure has high damping performance and similar tendency that studied on the basis of theoretical equation was got.
