Abstract

We are studying flow-induced vibrations of a blade that vibrates only in the vertical direction. Large vibration occurs in the blade when the frequency of vortex excitation and the natural frequency of the blade are close. The frequency of vortex excitation depends on the wind speed. The purpose of this study is to widen the range of wind velocities where large vibration occurs by installing a flat plate in the wake of the blade. We conducted experiments and numerical calculations. Based on the results, we investigated the mechanism by which a flat plate is installed in the wake to widen the range of wind velocities.
