Abstract

Today's classical guitar making is often done by treating the techniques and experience passed down from generation to generation as tacit knowledge, and identifying the characteristics of the wood and variations in the manufacturing process. However, with the development of simulation and measurement techniques, it has become easier than ever before to quantify these factors and provide support for handcrafted guitar production. In this paper, the structure of the bracing attached to the back side of the faceplate, which plays an important role in the sound quality of classical guitars, was examined using the simple layout to improve the sensitivity of sound transmission, and changes in sound transmission sensitivity were measured when the rigidity of the bracing support was reduced. The sensitivity to sound transmission due to the mechanism of the aging phenomenon, which is expected to improve the sound quality by playing into the wood, was also investigated.
