Abstract

In turbomachinery such as centrifugal compressors, high speed and size down are required, and as a counterbalance, the risk of unstable vibration due to fluid destabilization force caused by swirl flow has become increasing. In this study, a closed impeller single-stage dynamic characteristic testing apparatus was constructed, and the rotor was excited using a hydraulic shaker while the impeller was rotated. The fluid destabilization force generated in the leakage path of the shroud and labyrinth seal was measured. In comparison with the destabilization force when a swirl breaker was installed in the leakage channel, the effect of reducing the destabilization force was also confirmed. The experimental results of the fluid destabilization force were compared with those of CFD analysis to confirm the validity of the prediction method.
