Authors are constructing a development process with 3D-CAD for customer-specific manufacturing equipments in a production engineering division. This paper presents a methodology that utilizes 3D-CAD for an early design phase of the development process. Considerations show validities of the methodology were verified for a certain manufacturing equipment.
