Abstract
The purpose in this study is to find out the conceptual structures and the operations in the design proces. In a design process, a designer is thought to use number of complex and obscure concepts. Terefore this study deals with the combining of two concepts and analyzes this process by using the protocol analysis. The authors make a hypothesis : when the distance between two concepts is far, the design process proceeds at an abstract level. The results of two design experiments : one is near distance and the other is far, verifies this hypothesis.
