Abstract
In the (21)^<st> century, the creation of knowledge will be the key to industrial competitiveness. Intellectual property rights have been gathering wide attention these days because of this social background. But there are few lawyers with engineering background and to really turn our intellectual property rights into our financial assets, we have to have more lawyers who would observe how these rights are put into applications or who would settle legal issues relating to these rights. And international codes and standards are other important activities which would protect our intellectual properties and turn them into our assets. But we have no systematic ways to bring up persons who will codify or standardize our ideas globally. Design education would be the best area where we can deal with these topics and bring up necessary persons toward that purpose.
