Abstract
Structural design of electrical discharge machines (EDM) was investigated to minimize the effect of ambient temperature variances on the thermal deformation. The temperature distribution and the thermal deformation of EDM were simulated with finite element methods (FEM), and these results were seemed to be in good agreement with experimental data The optimization of structural design in EDM was discussed in the use of these FEM simulations
