Abstract
A CAD educational support framework using a workflow-based document management system called ShareFast is introduced in this research. The framework aims to help students undertake design coursework and record students' CAD software learning progress and show to the instructor in real time report. The framework was evaluated via empirical case studies for ship design class using CAD software. The experiment shows that the framework can help facilitate the student and the instructor in design learning activities very well. Moreover, with the monitoring system, the instructor can understand students' problem in real time, and control the class to be finished within the expected duration.
