Abstract
In this paper, we discusses a structural optimization method based on the topological phase-field theory using the level set model and Finite Cover Method (FCM) for obtaining mechanical structures that maximize structural stiffness. In the existing structural optimization, structural boundaries are represented implicitly using a level set function, so that the structural boundaries are ill-defined borders on numerical calculation. Therefore, in this paper, the FCM that is one of the mesh-free analysis methods is applied to the structural optimization based on the topological phase-field theory using the level set model, and so, the structural boundaries are represented explicitly. First, the basic concept of the topological phase-field theory and a structural optimization method based on the topological phase-field theory are briefly explained. Next, a new optimization algorithm for a structural optimization based on the topological phase-field theory using FCM is constructed.
